Lake side wedding in Snowdonia

I can honestly say this was the most beautifully emotional wedding I have ever photographed. There is just something so magical about having your ceremony outdoors in the wilderness and Snowdonia is such a perfect place to do this.

Cregennan Lake, Snowdonia ceremony

Dawn and Dave chose to hold their humanist wedding ceremony by Cregennan Lake in Snowdonia, surrounded by beautiful hillsides and right by the sea. Dawn grew up in a seaside town so being by the sea made her feel very much at home. Their wedding invites included B.Y.O.C- Bring Your Own Chair, so they could pick a location anywhere. They settled on Cregennan Lake after finding it on one of their trips down to Wales and when I went to visit the house they had chosen for the reception, I also came across the gorgeous Lake, after mentioning it to them as an option for pictures, it seemed like fate.

Big House by the Sea

Dawn and Dave booked Big house by the sea so they could have all their guests stay with them for the weekend. The house also has a reception room in an outbuilding, so was the perfect place to hold their wedding. The couple chose to get ready separately before having a first look, which was so beautiful and emotional. They chose to do this as they had decided to walk down the aisle together as equals, but still wanted a special moment of seeing each other for the first time.

The wedding day

The ceremony was held by Amy the celebrant and was completely personal to the couple, talking all about their fate meeting in a bike shop. Dawn and Dave had also written their own vows, which they read to each other in front of their closest friends and family and the Snowdonia hills. There wasn’t a dry eye among them. After the ceremony, we made the most of the beautiful Snowdonia hills for couple pictures, before then headed back to the house for canapes and some speeches outside. Dawns best friend couldn’t make it to the wedding due to the Australian borders being closed, so among the wedding party was a cardboard cut-out of her in her dress and she also skyped her speech. Unfortunately, their wedding band couldn’t make it, but they didn’t let that stop them and instead had a private moment dancing together outside.
