A stylish wedding at The Venue Bowers Mill Halifax

Lauren and Joe’s Unforgettable Wedding at The Venue, Bowers Mill Halifax.

Lauren and Joe’s day at The Venue, Bowers Mill in Halifax, was super stylish and fun. They had a beautiful outdoor ceremony overlooking the lake, and were lucky enough to have the sun shining down on them all day, despite the weather being absolutely awful all week. From a booze bath to a beer pong table to a (disastrous) champagne tower, this wedding was SO much fun, and it’s safe to say everyone had a ball.

The Bridal Prep

My day began at The Venue Bowers Mill, where I had the pleasure of capturing Lauren, her mum, and her bridesmaids as they prepared for the big day. The Boho Apartment at Bowers Mill Aparthotel provided a dreamy setting, just steps away from the venue.

The morning was a relaxed affair; hair and make up was finished over an hour before the ceremony began, leaving Lauren and her girls loads of time to chill out and get excited for the day. It also gave me time to get a few snaps of the boys pre-ceremony, wearing their classic, black, Moss Bros suits.

Lauren was a vision in her sleek, backless dress. She had a gorgeous, modern look with hair by Luxe Lounge and make up by Emily Miller. Her bridesmaids were also looking incredible in their beautiful, sage green, satin dresses from Pretty Lavish. This all came together with the prettiest pastel bouquets by Sammi Fern

The Outdoor Ceremony

Lauren and Joe chose to exchange vows outdoors, with the lake as their backdrop. The bandstand featured stunning pastel flower installations, also courtesy of Sammi Fern, and a boat brimming with flowers, setting the stage for their short and sweet ceremony, leaving plenty of time to celebrate.

Following a lovely petal throw and family formals, I whisked the couple away on a very short drive (we were going to walk it but Lauren’s feet hurt – not me, the bride) to a field behind the venue. There, the couple enjoyed a quiet moment while I captured some beautiful shots of them together.

The Reception

This was a no-details-spared day. With Lauren’s day job as a producer, everything was meticulously planned to make sure everyone had the best time.

The reception looked amazing, with disco balls hanging from the ceiling, and the tables covered in mismatched, pastel vases, candlestick holders, and candlesticks (some even had flowers painted on) in all different shapes and sizes. They also reused the flower installations from the ceremony to frame the top table, where Lauren and Joe lounged on gorgeous, rattan thrones.

This was honestly one of the nicest wedding breakfasts I’ve ever eaten. I even got treated to a three course meal – thank you so much both.

Then brilliant wedding band Switch kicked off the party and got everyone on the floor. Lauren also organised a fab photo booth, with a copper bathtub filled with balls – which later descended into a ball pit fight – and lots of bright coloured wigs and sunnies – which quickly made their way onto the dance floor.

The Memorable Champagne Tower

Lastly, the aforementioned disastrous champagne tower. I’m throwing it out there, champagne towers are a lot harder to stack than they look, and the slightest knock brings it all crashing down, which is exactly what happened. But everyone was in good spirits and Lauren carried on like nothing had happened, handing out glasses to everyone. But it did make for a good pic – you’ll find it below.

Thanks so much Lauren and Joe for asking me to be a part of your brilliant day, it’s not one I’ll forget anytime soon. Here are your previews, I hope you love them.
