A Relaxed Spring Wedding at Didsbury House Hotel

Jordan and Abbie’s wedding marked my first wedding back in 2024, and what a perfect, chilled-out day it was, easing me back into a busy wedding season and at the wonderful Didsbury House Hotel.

Everything about this day was laid-back, with a big emphasis on everyone just having a great time together. The couple themselves floated through the day, laughing with all their friends and family and really soaking up every minute of it. Having the whole day at Didsbury House Hotel meant everyone could relax and truly enjoy the day.

The Bridal Prep

I arrived early at Didsbury House, and let me tell you, the sun was shining. I love this time of year when all the cherry blossom and magnolia trees are in bloom. I took a little wander about to soak it all up and get some details of the venue before meeting Jason and the groomsmen and helping with some buttonholes.

Once I’d given a buttonhole lesson to the guys, I headed up to find Abbie and the girls, but couldn’t find them as they’d swapped rooms. Luckily, some family were on hand to point me in the right direction. As it turned out, the light was better in this room, which was a win for me. All the girls looked beautiful with their hair and makeup done by the lovely Lisa Simms.

The bridesmaids wore rose pink dresses, all in different styles that suited them, and Abbie had a beautiful, chic satin dress with a lace top and pearl accessories. Their flowers, created by Garden of Iris, brought everything together.

The ceremony at Didsbury House Hotel

The ceremony was a classic one, with the couple saying vows and exchanging rings. However, the sun was beaming through the windows, so getting the rings on wasn’t the easiest. I adore the ceremony room at Didsbury House Hotel; its huge windows let in the most beautiful light, and its interior has such a warm and cozy feeling, ideal for Abbie and Jordan’s relaxed vibe.

Following this, the couple had a quick glass of prosecco to themselves while I lined everyone up for the confetti throw.

The Reception

After the confetti, we headed straight into the family formals before the couple’s dog sitter arrived to bring Nim, their dog, for some pictures. Nim immediately jumped on Abbie’s dress, leaving an adorable, dirty paw print in the middle of it. Unfazed, Abbie was super chill, and we carried on with the pictures. The girls later managed to remove the mark with dry shampoo and a cloth.

We wandered up the road to Didsbury House’s sister venue, Eleven Didsbury Park, for some couple pictures in their beautiful gardens and stopped along the way for pictures under the magnolia trees.

Once back, it was time to eat. I was treated to an amazing beetroot Wellington and even got a passion fruit cheesecake for dessert. Then it was time for both the dads and the groom to do a speech each, talking about the couple and what a gorgeous day it had been.

Rather than a first dance, the couple opted to have a shot of baby Guinness for everyone to kick off the dance floor, which is honestly genius. Unfortunately, having only been a short booking, I had said my goodbyes before this, missing what I’m sure was a brilliant dance floor with The Northern Wedding DJ.

The biggest thank you to Jason and Abbie for a brilliant start to the year. Here are you previews, I hope you love them!
