A Peak District Elopement at Mam Tor

What can I say? Lydia & Alistair had the most incredible elopement day in the Peak District. The second I got Lydia’s enquiry through, I knew this would be an extra special one and let me tell you it did not disappoint. These two pulled out all the stops and even had a 4am start to have the most beautiful sunrise elopement on Mam Tor, followed by a small ceremony at the lovely High Peak Registry Office with their closest family.

Bridal prep at Chandler House in Castleton

It was a very early start, but when I arrived at Chandler House where Lydia had booked to stay with Alistair and her family, it was all systems go. Lydia was in the kitchen getting her hair curled by her sister, with her mum on hand for hair spraying duties. Meanwhile Alistair was upstairs drinking Irn Bru (he’s the third biggest buyer of Irn Bru in the countrty, what a claim to fame) and getting ready.

Once her hair was finished it was time for Lydia to get into her beautiful Needle and Thread dress, paired with hiking boots (of course!) and a waterproof coat. And not forgetting her little backpack with gorgeous faux flowers peeking out.

We set off at 6am, to get up onto the Mam Tor peak for the sunrise.

Mam Tor

We spent some time hiking Mam Tor and got treated to the most beautiful sunrise. Mam Tor is somewhere that is really special to them both. Alistair actually wanted to propose to Lydia there, but unfortunately Covid put a stop to his plan. So, they instead chose to spend their wedding day up there. Lydia suprised Alistair with a little gift during the hike and they just spent sometime together enjoying the morning. We had a little prosecco spray to celebrate their elopement and even got to meet some mega friendly sheep.

The weather was so good to us, up until we got back to the trigg point where the clouds rolled in and the wind came out.

High Peak Registary Office and Castleton Pub lunch reception

Unfortunately due to English laws, it’s not possible to have a legal ceremony on Mam Tor, so back down we came to head to the lovely High Peak Registry Office with the couple’s closest family to make the whole thing legal. The pair had an emotional and initmate ceremony. They then headed back to the house for some quick family photos and a little cake cut, before heading to Ye Olde Nags Head in Castleton to celebrate with their families.

A huge thank you to you both for asking me to be a part of such a special day, here are your previews.
